POSITION PURPOSE: The Specialty Non-Sterile Compounding Technician works under the direction of the Specialty Compounding Manager to assist in compounding operations. Assists Pharmacist in filling non-sterile compounded prescriptions and other compounded pharmaceuticals under direct Pharmacist’s supervision, based on the extent allowable by State/Federal law.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Complies with Safeway quality standards related to the preparation, dispensing and sale of compounded pharmaceuticals and pharmacy related products.
- Receives refill requests from patients and obtains authorization for refills from physician’s offices.
- Processes records and enters data into compounding software system for prescriptions and other pharmaceutical products.
- Prepares and process third-party claims for payment.
- Checks formulas, retrieves ingredients, weighs and measures ingredients and completes preparation work.
- Assembles product using proper techniques and equipment.
- Communicates with pharmacists for instructions, changes, issues and checking completed product.
- Operates cash register and process payment for purchase.
- Prepares patient orders and packages for shipment.
- Cleans, calibrates and completes required documentation to maintain compounding equipment.
- Sanitizes and disinfects equipment and compounding areas.
- Orders,receives and stocks chemicals and supplies
- Counts stock and enters data into computer to maintain inventory records for pharmacy.
- Exercises discretion and confidentiality with all patient information.
- Follows proper Pharmacy and general safety and security procedures and processes.
- Promptly report to the pharmacist all patient complaints that cannot be immediately remedied.
- Notify the pharmacist when agents from any regulatory agency or law officers contact/visit the Pharmacy.
- Understands and complies with Best Practice Standards and Policies and Procedures of the Specialty Compounding Center.

The pay range is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
